The Magnolia Botanical Gardens is located at the North MS Research & Extension Center in Verona, Mississippi. The station was established in 1947 on 178 acres. A vegetable & ornamental research unit was added in 1996, and the MBG was started in 1997. The 5-acre gardens support the mission of MSU Extension and MAFES with the goal of serving as a demonstration and education resource for green industry professionals and consumers.
The MBG encompasses multiple gardens including a formal rose garden, native plant area, pollinator pathway, Southern Magnolia collection, herbs, annual and perennial trials, demonstration beds, the A.R.T.S.® Rose Trial, paved walking trails, and an education pavilion.
